4 days mt meru hiking Overview

Mt. Meru is a challenging trek due to its steepness, but is climbing the mountain has always been believed to be a great way to acclimatize before attempting climbing the taller Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Climbers at Mount Meru are usually accompanied by an armed TANAPA ranger due to the abundance of wildlife on the lower slopes of the mountain, including the buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, monkeys and others. The mountain also has some historical significance to it because some quarters have suggested that it was the resting place of Noah’s Ark when it came to rest after the biblical flood receded.
Mt. Meru is always a great trekking option for those who want to take on a climbing challenge and get the sense of being out in the wild, but are not quite ready to tackle Mt. Kilimanjaro or for those who would like to conquer both Kilimanjaro and Mt Kilimanjaro, and no route is better than this 4 days Mount Meru climbing itinerary.
